In 2013 Sequoias Portola Valley received a five year accreditation from CARF-CCAC with recognition for exemplary performance in key areas. The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, CARF International, is an independent, nonprofit accreditor of human service providers that was established in 1966.
The Continuing Care Accreditation Commission (CCAC), based in Washington, D.C., was founded in 1985 as the nation's only accrediting organization of continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) and aging services networks. CARF acquired CCAC in 2003.
CARF-CCAC is the only group in the U.S. that examines and reports how standards are met in CCRCs. CARF-CCAC has developed a comprehensive set of guidelines, standards and practices by which CCRCs are measured. The accreditation process validates our standing while pointing out areas for improvement. It provides objective, outside assurance that NCPHS meets or exceeds standards.
